2018 University of Alberta International Scholarships, Canada


The University of Alberta offers many scholarship opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students with outstanding academic potential. We offer more than CAD$28 million in undergraduate scholarships and financial support each year, and our graduate funding rates rank among the highest in Canada. You will be considered automatically for several scholarships when you are admitted to UAlberta. You can find these listed under the General Undergraduate Scholarships section.

General Undergraduate Scholarships

The University of Alberta offers over $28 million (CAD) in scholarships and financial support to undergraduate students each year.
  
  • Field of Study: Open
    Value: $5,000
    Quantity available: Up to 8
    Conditions: Awarded to student(s) with superior academic achievement entering their first year of an undergraduate degree program and who are studying on a Study Permit. Selection based on leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular and community activities and academic standing.
    Application procedure: Apply online through the International Major Scholarships in Bear Tracks under Undergraduate Awards.

    The deadline to apply and for UAlberta to receive all supporting information—including reference contact information and transcripts—is 11:59 pm MST December 18, 2017.
    At the time of application, students must have applied for admission to a degree program at the University of Alberta. You will receive a CCID and password when you apply for admission and must use this to access the awards application.

    Documentation required for admission must be submitted. This includes transcripts showing all completed courses and grades to date and proof of English Language Proficiency (see Documentation). Make sure you send final or interim transcripts well before the award deadline.

    Decision timeline: University of Alberta Entrance Leadership Scholarship offers will be made starting in March 2018.

Athletics Scholarships

UAlberta is proud to offer its finest athletes a wide range of athletic scholarships and awards.

  • Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation International Student-Athlete Award
    Field of Study: Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation

    Number: Variable
    Conditions: Awarded to Golden Bears and/or Pandas student-athlete(s) on Study Permit(s) with satisfactory academic standing registered in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta. Selection based on demonstrated athletic excellence.

 University of Alberta Centenary Scholarship

  • Field of Study: Open
    Value: Variable from $20,000; payable over four years
    Quantity available: Up to 5
    Conditions: Awarded to students on a Study Permit with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta. Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated leadership qualities based on involvement in extracurricular and community activities. Renewal of funding for the second, third, and fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta while studying on a Study Permit. Students must have less than 24 IB, AP or A-level credits. Transfer students are not eligible for this scholarship.
    Recipient(s) of this scholarship are ineligible to receive the University of Alberta China, India or USA Centenary Scholarships.
